About the Johnnies: St. John’s is coming off a 77-69 upset victory over MIAC-leading St. Thomas on Monday in Collegeville.

It was the Johnnies’ second win in a row. Senior wing Patrick Butcher led the way with 20 points against the Tommies, ranked No. 10 in the nation in Division III. Fellow senior Seth Marx scored 16 points to finish in double figures for the fourth time in five games.

Johnnies coach Jim Smith expects sophomore wing Mitchell Kuck, who is slowly working his way back into the rotation after being out with a broken foot, to see perhaps more time against the Cardinals.

About the Cardinals: St. Mary’s has lost seven straight games, including an 88-74 loss at Bethel on Wednesday. Sophomore forward Will Swiggum is averaging a team-best 11.6 points per game.

The Cardinals fell 68-57 to the Johnnies when the two team’s met on Dec. 7 in Collegeville.
