CSB volleyball picked No. 2 in MIAC preseason poll

The St. Benedict volleyball team was picked to finish second behind defending Division III national champion St. Thomas in the MIAC’s preseason coaches’ poll released Tuesday.

The Blazers — who return every starter from a team that advanced to the third-round of the Division III tournament last season — received one first-place vote. They open the season when they host the CSB Labor Day Tournament this Friday and Saturday at Claire Lynch Hall.

The complete poll is as follows: 1. St. Thomas 121 (11 first-place votes); 2. St. Benedict 111 (1); 3. Concordia 98; 4. Gustavus 74; 5. Bethel 69; 6. Augsburg 68; 7. Carleton and St. Olaf 64; 9. St. Mary’s 56; 10. St. Catherine 35; 11. Hamline 17; 12. Macalester 15.
