Jim Russell is the head men’s basketball coach at Central Lakes College in Brainerd. He’s a former St. Cloud State graduate assistant who took the CLC job in 1996.
According to the Brainerd Dispatch’s Mike Bialka, Russell recently recorded his 300th win at CLC.
In the story, Russell said he sometimes finds it easier to recruit players out of state than in the area because area kids generally are headed to four-year schools. One of his key players this year is Kevin Kuefler from Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa and Russell has had many others over the years.
