Rep. Michele Bachmann’s DFL opponent, Jim Graves, released a pair of new ads today, including its inaugural TV ad and a web spot that rips Bachmann’s response to Sartell’s Verso mill explosion.
The TV ad is the campaign’s first, and is part of a six-figure ad buy that airs on Twin Cities networks starting today, according to Graves campaign spokesman Adam Graves. It focuses on Jim Graves’ roots growing up in St. Cloud and his launching of the hotel chain AmericInn.
The web ad is where the gloves come off for Team Graves. It features interviews with former workers at the Verso Paper Mill, which was permanently closed last month after a May explosion halted the mill’s operations.
In the ad, Verso workers criticize Bachmann for not contacting them after the mill explosion and say she’s too worried about her own career to focus on what’s happening in the 6th District.
Bachmann, R-Stillwater, met with local officials at Sartell City Hall to discuss the Verso disaster in August, shortly after the announcement that the mill would not reopen.
Political Quarry will post a response to the ads from the Bachmann campaign after it’s received.
