Greetings from Clemens Stadium

Greetings from Clemens Stadium on a gorgeous late September day in Collegeville. Temps are expected to be in the high 70s, the fall colors are in full bloom and its Homecoming at Clemens Stadium.

The Johnnies (0-2 MIAC, 2-2 overall) are attempting to snap a two-game losing streak and get a running game that has rushed for 50 yards total the past two weeks against the Oles (1-1, 3-1), who rank last in the MIAC against the run.

St. Olaf does boast a veteran quarterback in senior Dan Dobson and a talented corps of wide receivers. And the Oles remember well a 27-24 loss here late last season that effectively ended their playoff hopes.

For St. John’s, freshman Nick Martin is expected to get the start at quarterback in place of injured junior Connor Bruns (separated shoulder suffered in a loss to Concordia next week). And the question is if he can continue to display the potential he did while throwing for 153 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter against the Cobbers a week ago.

We’re doing the live coverage thing here at sctimes.com (click on the link on the front page) and you can follow along with me on Twitter at @rajko1973. I’ll have updates here again at halftime and when the final gun sounds.
