Greetings from Edor Nelson Field

Hello everybody from Edor Nelson Field on a cold and gray day in Minneapolis.

Kickoff between St. John’s and Augsburg is about an hour away. The Johnnies are trying to snap a three-game losing streak and avoid losing four in a row for the first time in a single season since 1930.

And they will be doing it in the much-discussed red pants.

Big changes are expected on defense today. I covered that in my game preview here on the blog, so I won’t run through them all again here. But the hope is to get a bit quicker against a very mobile quarterback in Augsburg freshman Ayrton Scott.

St. John’s senior running back Steve Johnson needs just 26 yards today to become the ninth player in school history to reach 2,000 yards in his career.

You can follow along today via Twitter at @rajko1973 and on the now-open-for-business live coverage link on the front page at I’ll be back here with updates at halftime and afterward.
