St. Cloud State sophomores Nick Oliver and Jarrod Rabey will both be out of the team’s lineup for 2-3 weeks with lower body injuries, according to St. Cloud State coach Bob Motzko. Both players were injured in Saturday’s 5-1 win over Denver at the National Hockey and Event Center.
Oliver, a wing from Roseau, has 1 goal, 4 assists, 18 penalty minutes and is a minus-2 this season. He has played in 23 of the team’s 24 games this season. In 57 career games, Oliver has 3 goals, 6 assists, 51 penalty minutes and is a minus-5. He will be replaced in the lineup this weekend by either sophomore Garrett Milan (16 GP, 1-1-2, 4 PM, minus-3; Career: 44 GP, 3-3-6, 6 PM, minus-5) or sophomore Joe Rehkamp (17 GP, 0-3-3, 6 PM, minus-7; Career: 35 GP, 2-4-6, 10 PM, minus-5). Motzko said that whomever they decide to go with in the lineup, they will play wing on a line with junior center Cory Thorson and sophomore Brooks Bertsch on the wing on Friday.
Rabey, a defenseman from Rockton, Ill., has 3 assists, 21 penalty minutes and is even this season. He has played in 18 of the team’s 24 games. For his career, he has played in 37 games and has 6 goals, 11 assists, 27 penalty minutes and is a minus-2. He will be replaced in the lineup by Taylor Johnson, who was a healthy scratch both games last weekend. Rabey was a defensive partner with sophomore Tim Daly both games last weekend. Johnson has played in 15 games this season and has 3 assists, 4 penalty minutes and is a minus-2. The senior from White Bear Lake has played in 121 games in his career and has 7 goals, 32 assists and 176 penalty minutes.
“The good news is that we replace those two guys with guys who have played a lot and we’re good on depth,” Motzko said.
