I’m a sucker for history stories, especially when they involve sports. I love seeing where things started and how they evolved. The West Central Tribune has one of those kind of stories on its website today. It’s about the 1939-40 Willmar boys basketball team and the opening of what was then the new school. I remember covering games in that old gym. It was a wonderful place, definitely old school. And while the new gym is bigger and nicer and better, I always have a fondness for places like that.
Anyway, here’s a link to Rand Middleton’s story:

Here’s another interesting story in the West Central Tribune.
Mia Post is the 4-year-old daughter of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg head boys basketball coach Lucas Post. Mia Post has a form of kidney cancer. There will be a fundraiser for Mia Post during KMS’ home game with the Hancock Owls on Jan. 14.
