St. John’s head coach Gary Fasching said after Friday’s practice that sophomore Nick Martin would start at quarterback for the Johnnies in Saturday’s matchup at Gustavus.
But he added that senior Connor Bruns is also likely to see action.
Martin – who began the season as the starter before an injury in the first game – replaced Bruns under center in a 23-13 victory at Carleton on Oct. 19 when Bruns was sidelined by a sprained foot.
Bruns returned to practice this week, and he and Martin have split reps with the first-team offense this week. But Fasching has said the plan is to work Bruns back in slowly.
Bruns has thrown for 1,088 yards and seven touchdowns this season. Martin has thrown for 351 yards and one touchdown.
