Reader needs a piece o’ cake flight

Questions keep rolling in about getting to Florida from St. Cloud. Here are this week’s:

Question: Lisa, how was your trip to Orlando? My son and daughter-in-law live there, and it would be so great for me if this airline works out. I am not in the best of health, so traveling is quite hard on me. I’m wondering if this is a straight-through flight? I am not much on flying, but a straight-through flight would be wonderful. How long did it take from St Cloud to get to Orlando? It will be great to hear from you, and thanks for your service. — Mary

Answer: Have I got some good news for you, Mary. Traveling from St. Cloud to Orlando Sanford is about as easy as a trip gets.

The flight is non-stop and it takes just about three hours. St. Cloud Regional Airport couldn’t be easier to navigate (free parking, one security line, one gate area).

And Orlando Sanford is also a very approachable facility — it’s relatively small in size and accustomed to catering to passengers of all abilities, including those traveling with small children. There is a prominent staffed information booth and easily accessible passenger pickup areas. Overall, I think the only possible downside is punctuality. Both Allegiant flights I’ve taken from St. Cloud have departed late. Of course, that’s going to be a highly variable situation and your mileage may vary. As long as you don’t have a million-dollar deal waiting on you at the end of the trip, this is probably a great way for you to get to central Florida.

Going somewhere?

… And you probably are, judging by the jam-packed airplane seat maps and the “no rooms are available for your dates” notices I’ve been running into. (Yep, I waited way too long to book my winter trip.)
