The Huskies had 177 points in the poll and one first-place vote. MSU-Mankato was picked to finish first with 195 points and 13 first-place votes. Winona State had the other first-place vote and was picked to finish third with 163 points.
This was the fourth year in a row that Mankato was picked to win the league. The Mavericks’ Harvey Martin was picked as the preaseason pitcher of the year. Winona State’s Seth McMullen was selected as the conference’s preaseason player of the year.
St. Cloud State’s Brian Hansen was selected as a player to watch and pitcher Scott Lieser was picked as a pitcher to watch for the Huskies.
