SCSU football adds Wisconsin OL/DL

The St. Cloud State football team added another recruit from Wisconsin late last week when they got a verbal commitment from Bryce Johnson.

Johnson is a 6-foot-6, 255-pound defensive/offensive lineman from Beaver Dam High School. WisSports.Net first reported the verbal commitment.

That brings the total of confirmed commitments for the Huskies to 11. Nine of the 11 confirmed recruits are from Wisconsin.

The Huskies had already received commitments from Wisconsin in quarterback Ben Diedrick, running back Donte Starlin-Merriam, defensive end David Maule, Green Bay Preble offensive lineman Alex Heimerman, Fon du Lac offensive lineman Ben Maruska, Wisconsin Lutheran linebacker Eric Marshall, Milwaukee King defensive back/returner Keyshawn Davis and Sussex Hamilton defensive back Jake Knueppel.

The other commitments for SCSU include Grant Lewis, a 6-foot-8, 268-pound offensive lineman from Sioux Falls Washington High School in Sioux Falls, S.D., and Brett Wainwright, a 5-9, 160-pound wide receiver from Oswego, Ill.

The minute I get more confirmations, I’ll put them on the blog. Signing day is Feb. 6.
