St. Cloud State women’s hockey player Haylea Schmid has been named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week.
Schmid, a senior from Oak Grove, had two goals and three assists in a series split last weekend against Minnesota State-Mankato at the National Hockey and Event Center.
Schmid has eight goals and nine assists to share the team’s scoring lead.
Wisconsin goaltender Alex Grigsby was named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week. Minnesota freshman forward Hannah Brandt was named WCHA Rookie of the Week.
Center Ice Club will have social Saturday
The Center Ice Club will have a pre-game social from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at MC’s Dugout Bar and Grill. The event will take place before the St. Cloud State men’s hockey team plays Colorado College at the National Hockey and Event Center. All club members and hockey fans are invited.
SCSU’s 2nd Teddy Bear Toss is Saturday
St. Cloud State’s second Teddy Bear Toss will be held during the first intermission Saturday of the men’s hockey game between the Huskies and Colorado College at the National Hockey and Event Center. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used Teddy Bear or stuff animal to the game to toss onto the ice during the intermission. Toys collected will be donated to Toys for Tots in St. Cloud. This weekend’s series between St. Cloud State and Colorado College can be seen on Charter Cable Channel 87 and on Comcast Cable channel 13/23 in the Twin Cities. On Saturday, the game can also be seen on DirecTV 681 and DISH Network 410.
Friday’s game starts at 7:37 p.m. and Saturday’s game starts at 7:07 p.m.
