More than a little late posting as I was out covering prep football tonight.
But the Johnnies again practiced in the heat this afternoon at Clemens Stadium – a practice that was scheduled to feature some first offense vs. first defense toward the end (I had to leave early because of my prep duties).
Wide receiver Josh Bungum (pulled quad) and running back Peter Vakulskas (bruised foot) continue to sit out, though both said Friday they hope to return when the team next practices on Monday.
Defensive lineman Nate Blenker, who sat out practice Tuesday with a swollen foot, returned Wednesday and has been practicing since.
And for sophomore offensive lineman Ben Kuhr, who was attempting to return after tearing an ACL last season, the news is bad. An MRI showed he re-tore the ACL early on in practice this fall. He will again miss this season.
That’s a quick update for now. Just a reminder that our annual trip around the MIAC should begin Saturday with capsules on Hamline and Carleton. The plan is to again do two a day building up to the St. John’s preview package, which runs in next Wednesday’s newspaper.
Good night everybody.
