SJU football Thursday update

Trying to update the blog from the iPhone tonight so this could be interesting.

The Johnnies were back at practice on this cold and gray afternoon at Clemens Stadium. The team practiced earlier today (and will practice at 1 p.m. Friday) because it’s a long weekend at the school.

Expect some big changes when St. John’s takes the field at Augsburg and attempts to snap a three-game losing streak Saturday.

That will start in the secondary where Max Forster is expected to switch from cornerback to free safety. Dylan Graves is expected to move to strong safety and freshman Trevor Warner is expected to start at cornerback along side Bobby Fischer.

Ricky Davis and John Gans are expected to rotate at an inside linebacker spot alongside Taylor Dammermann. Though Andrew Rose will also likely see some time. Darryl Williams is expected to play in a defensive end/outside linebacker role. Joe Donner and Joe Zrust will continue to rotate at nose tackle. But Donner is expected to get the start.

Meanwhile, on offense, seniors Wade Powers and Scott Ramey are expected to rotate at tight end in place of Taylor Freetly, who was likely lost for the season with a fractured collarbone suffered in the loss to St. Olaf last week.

Running back Nick Schneider (knee) sat out practice Thursday. But he is expected to play against the Auggies.
