For the first time all season, rainy weather forced the St. John’s football team indoors Tuesday. The Johnnies practiced in McNeely Spectrum as they continued their preparations for Saturday’s game against Gustavus at Clemens Stadium.
Junior quarterback Connor Bruns, who returned to practice Monday for the first time since separating his right throwing shoulder in a loss at Concordia on Sept. 22, was back out again Tuesday. He said the shoulder was feeling a little sore and didn’t want to risk setting his recovery back. But he hopes to give it a try again Wednesday.
Also out Tuesday was defensive lineman Nate Blenker, who injured his wrist in practice Monday. But he said he expects to be ready to play Saturday. Running back Nick Schneider remained out with a strained groin muscle. His status is day-to-day.
Condolences go out to the family of freshman defensive back Nick Simon. His father Robert passed away earlier this week. Members of the team were signing a condolence card Tuesday.
