It was back to work for the St. John’s football team as the Johnnies returned to practice at Clemens Stadium in preparation for Saturday’s matchup against Hamline in St. Paul.
A somewhat lengthy list of players on the sidelines resting various ailments today.
Defensive end Connor Grill fractured his right hand late in last Saturday’s win over Gustavus and was in a cast Tuesday. With just two games left in his college career, Grill said he plans to attempt to play through the injury.
In much the same boat is tight end Wade Powers who left Saturday’s game with a knee injury in the first half. Powers has elected not to have an MRI on the knee and will attempt to play the final two games of the season. He sat out practice Tuesday, but said he hopes to try running Wednesday and see how things go.
Running back Nick Schneider, who has been out with a groin injury suffered in a win over Carleton on Oct. 13, sat out practice again Tuesday. Also sitting out was linebacker Taylor Dammermann (bruised thumb) and running back Colin Moynihan (neck), though both are expected to play Saturday.
Junior quarterback Connor Bruns, who practiced a few times last week for the first time since separating his right throwing shoulder against Concordia on Sept. 22, but did not dress against Gustavus because of soreness, was back practicing Monday.
