SJU schedules football coaching open forum in Minneapolis

St. John’s will host an information session and open forum on the school’s search for a new football coach next week in Minneapolis.

The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jax Cafe. The forum will include presentations by three former Johnnies football players – Bob Gavin (class of 1962), Steve Cummings (class of 1983) and Tom Linnemann (class of 2000) – discussing the St. John’s football experience.

Moderating the forum will be Joe Mucha, the chair of the 10-person search committee charged with finding a replacement for John Gagliardi, who announced his retirement on Nov. 19 after 60 seasons as the head coach at the school.

Other members of the committee will also be on-hand to receive input.

The cost of the event is $18 per person, which includes an all-inclusive lunch buffett. Those interested in attending are asked to register online (http://sjualum.csbsju.edu/s/1433/3/index.aspx?sid=1433&pgid=1143&gid=3&cid=2104&ecid=2104&post_id=0) by 9 a.m. Monday.
