St. John’s sophomore outside linebacker Maze Thompson has been named this week’s MIAC defensive player of the week.
Thompson had 12 tackles, including nine solo, three tackles-for-a-loss, one sack and one forced fumble as the Johnnies beat Gustavus 31-17 this past Saturday at Clemens Stadium to even their record at 4-4. Thompson also blocked a field goal.
He has 51 tackles and two sacks this season.
Meanwhile, St. Benedict sophomore Victoria Nass has been named this week’s MIAC setter/libero of the week.
She had 64 digs — an average of eight per set — in her team’s two wins last week. Her team closed the regular season with 14 straight victories and will be the No. 2 seed in this week’s MIAC tournament.
