St. Benedict 36, Bethel 27

Halftime at Claire Lynch Hall in a game St. Benedict controlled much of the first half, jumping out to leads of 10-0, 19-8 and 26-14 on Tish Alexander’s third 3-pointer of the first half.

Bethel came on late, though, cutting the Blazers’ lead to as little as four – at 31-27 – before a basket and free throw by Morgan Dale and a basket by Elena Koch sent St. Benedict into the locker rooms up by nine.

Alexander has nine points to lead the Blazers. Dale has seven. St. Benedict was 13-for-32 (40.6 percent) from the field in the first half and 6-for-11 from 3-point range. The Blazers also hold a 25-19 rebounding edge led by six rebounds by 6-6 freshman Sydney Hughes.

The Royals were just 8-for-31 (25.8 percent) from the field as a team and were 9-for-14 at the free throw line.

Micaella Petrich has seven points to lead her team. Rachel Parupsky has six.

Meanwhile, in Arden Hills, St. John’s had a tough first half and trails Bethel 48-22 at halftime.
