Game notes

* Starting junior offensive tackle Jack Hedlund (bruised collarbone), backup running back Harry Awe and wide receiver Ben Krebsbach (hamstring) and cornerback Alex Powell (shoulder) were all among those who missed time due to injury in the preseason for the Johnnies. But all were back in practice this week and are available to play today. Junior defensive tackle Nate Blenker sat out a week-and-a-half as a precautionary measure after taking a blow to the head. He was cleared to return to practice Wednesday, but is not expected to see action against the Eagles.

* Northwestern junior defensive tackle Valentine Awasom – a native of Cameroon — makes his debut as a starter today just weeks after officially becoming a U.S. citizen.

* Northwestern and St. John’s were both picked to finish fourth in the UMAC and MIAC preseason coaches’ polls.
