Women’s hockey
UM-DULUTH 4, SCSU 1
Jenna McParland and Brienna Gillanders had a goal and an assist apiece and Sofia Carlstrom made 28 saves Saturday to lead the Bulldogs (4-5-1 WCHA, 5-6-1 overall) to the WCHA sweep at the National Hockey and Event Center. UM-D was 2-for-6 on the power play and killed both of St. Cloud State’s power plays.
The Huskies’ goal was scored by Lisa Martinson, a senior defenseman from St. Louis Park. Martinson scored at 1:53 of the third period to cut the deficit to 3-1. Freshman goalie Katie Fitzgerald made 32 saves for St. Cloud State (2-8-0, 4-9-1).
St. Benedict 4, Augsburg 0
Forwards Alli O’Brien had a goal and two assists, Allyson Nielson had a goal and an assist and Jenna Traut made 23 saves to lead the Blazers (1-2-1 MIAC, 2-2-3 overall) to the MIAC win at Dave Torrey Arena.
It was the first career shutout for Traut, a sophomore and St. Cloud Apollo graduate.
Men’s hockey
ST. JOHN’S 4, AUGSBURG 2
The Johnnies erased a 2-1 deficit by scoring three goals with less than 10 minutes remaining at the National Hockey and Event Center. John Haeg had the go-ahead goal for St. John’s (1-3 MIAC, 2-4-1 overall).
Junior hockey
Lumberjacks win in shootout
MASON CITY, Iowa — DJ Vold and Aidan Verbeke scored in the shootout to help the Granite City Lumberjacks to a 4-3 win over the North Iowa Bulls in an NA3HL junior hockey game.
Granite City pulled its goalie and Zac Sikich scored with 21 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 3.
Vold also had a goal in regulation for Granite City, which trailed 3-1 in the second period.
