WCHA women: SCSU wins 1-0, sweeps Bemidji State

BEMIDJI — Julie Friend had 39 saves and Abby Ness scored at 14:33 of the third period to give the St. Cloud State women’s hockey team a 1-0 WCHA win over Bemidji State.

The win gives the Huskies (2-2 WCHA, 2-2 overall) a series sweep of the Beavers (0-2, 1-4).

Ness, a sophomore from Roseau, scored the even strength goal with assists from Kalli Funk and Molli Mott. It was the first college shutout for Friend, a sophomore from Minnetonka.

Both teams were 0-for-2 on the power play. Bemidji State goalie Abby Ryplanski had 27 saves.
