Women’s basketball: SCSU 79, MSU-Moorhead 56 (Final)

MOORHEAD – St. Cloud State bounced back in a big way Saturday.

After suffering their first loss of the season Friday night at Northern State, the Huskies rebounded with an easy 79-56 win over Minnesota State-Moorhead in front of 644 fans at Alex Nemzek Hall.

St. Cloud State improved to 4-1 in the NSIC and 8-1 overall. The Dragons fell to 2-3 in the NSIC and 5-4 overall.

Jessica Benson led the Huskies with 17 points, Morgan Lof had a career-high 13 points and six rebounds, Sam Price had 11 points, Amanda Wagner and Lexy Petermann both had 10 points and point guard Nicole Anderson had six assists.

The Huskies built a 25-point lead in the first half and led 42-33 at the half.

The Huskies shot 50.8 percent from the field while holding Moorhead to 37.5 percent shooting. St. Cloud State forced the Dragons (2-3, 5-4) into 21 turnovers. The Huskies had a 30-7 scoring advantage in points off the turnovers.

SCSU had a 32-18 scoring edge in the paint and got 26 points off the bench.

The Huskies don’t play again until Jan. 4 when they host the University of Mary at Halenbeck Hall.
