MINNEAPOLIS — Senior goalie Noora Raty had 20 saves to get the shutout and Maryianne Menefee had two goals to lead the University of Minnesota to a 4-0 WCHA women’s hockey win over St. Cloud State on Saturday at Ridder Arena.
Both goals by Menefee, a freshman forward from Lansing, Mich., were on the power play. The Gophers (2-0 WCHA, 4-0 overall) were 2-for-4 on the power play and killed all seven power plays for the Huskies. St. Cloud State (0-2, 0-2) was 0-for-13 on the power play in the series.
Katie Fitzgerald, a freshman from Des Plaines, Ill., had 32 saves in her first collegiate start for the Huskies. Sophomore forward Abby Ness had four shots on goal and junior Molli Mott and senior Alex Nelson had three shots apiece for St. Cloud State.
